On May 29, 2025, Colombian designer Andres Otalora opened the runway of Colombiamoda Miami with a collection that reaffirms his mastery of tropical luxury and feminine sophistication. The event, held at Casa Colombiamoda, marked the beginning of an edition aimed at positioning Colombian design in the U.S. market with this stunning show, attended by fashion-loving celebrities such as Karina Banda, Rodner Figueroa, Catalina Maya, Eva Hughes, Irma Martínez, Juliana Molina, Anggie Bryant, and more.
We spoke exclusively with the Cali-born designer, who shared that the inspiration behind the Resort 2026 collection was the strong and sophisticated Caribbean woman—an empowered figure, deeply connected to the sea, nature, and her cultural heritage. The collection draws inspiration from Colombia’s islands, vegetation, beaches, and seas, incorporating materials and techniques like caña flecha (used in the iconic vueltiao hat), padua, tagua, and other organic seeds that enrich the proposal.
Each garment reflected a dialogue between the tropical landscape, the ocean’s depths, and urban-organic, contemporary-ancestral contrasts. The collection featured luxurious linens and cottons, along with accessories and artisanal techniques in clothing and jewelry made with natural seeds. Footwear included neutral-toned sandals that reinforced the artisanal character and the attention to detail that defines the designer.
